Police arrested two principal suspect in alkaleri

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspects over alleged possession of stolen cattle and attempted bribery in Alkaleri Local Government Area.
The suspects, Abdullahi Adamu, 26, and Muktashir Idris, 20, both from Jarmai Village, Dangi LGA, Plateau State, were arrested after two residents of Yalo Village reported that 103 cattle had been rustled by gunmen at Yankari Forest in July 2026.
Police recovered three of the stolen cattle at Mararaban Liman Katagum after the complainants identified them. A traditional leader subsequently assisted in the arrest of the two suspects.
During interrogation, Idris allegedly confessed that he was sent by his master, identified as Alaba, to sell the stolen cattle. Police said efforts were ongoing to arrest Alaba.
The investigation also uncovered an alleged attempt to bribe the complainants with ₦400,000 to compromise the case. The money was recovered by the police as an exhibit.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, mni, psc (+), has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation. The suspects will be charged to court after the investigation is completed.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to combating cattle rustling and other forms of criminality, urging residents to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
