*Namadi Receives APC Congress Committee, Assures Peaceful Conduct in Jigawa*
By Umar Akilu Majeri, Dutse
Governor Umar Namadi has assured members of the Ward and Local Government Congress Committee of a peaceful environment to conduct their assignment in Jigawa State.
The governor gave the assurance while receiving members of the committee at the Council Chambers of the Government House, Dutse, ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ward and local government congresses taking place nationwide.
Namadi urged the committee members, appointed by the party’s national leadership, to move freely across the state, describing Jigawa as one of the most peaceful states in the federation.
He noted that internal party elections are crucial to the success of the party in general elections.
“The party is the root. It is from the party that leadership emerges. A transparent and credible congress will reflect in our victory at the general elections,” the governor said.
He assured the committee of the full support of the Jigawa State Government, party stakeholders, and members across the state to ensure the successful conduct of the exercise.
“We will create an enabling environment for you to carry out this assignment and ensure your safety throughout your stay in Jigawa,” he added.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the Ward and Local Government Election Committee, Alhaji Shehu Ma’azu, said the committee would spend five days in Jigawa to conduct the congresses across the 27 local government areas and 287 political wards of the state.
He appealed for the cooperation and support of the state government and party stakeholders to guarantee a smooth and peaceful process.
Ma’azu expressed appreciation to Governor Namadi for the warm reception and for making time to receive the committee despite his busy schedule.
The APC ward and local government congresses are part of the party’s internal processes to elect grassroots leaders ahead of future political activities.
