By Umar Akilu Majeri
The Hadejia Emirate Council has assured the Jigawa State Hisbah Command of its full support to ensure the success of the command’s daily operations across the state.
The assurance was given by the Chairman of the Council of Chiefs and Emir of Hadejia, Alhaji Adamu Abubakar Maje Haruna, while receiving the Commandant-General of the Jigawa State Hisbah Command, Dr. Faiz Muhammad Bashir, alongside five zonal commandants and other dignitaries of the command at his palace.
The Emir charged Hisbah personnel to avoid taking the law into their own hands while carrying out their duties and urged them to operate strictly within the provisions of the law.
He further advised the command to work closely with sister security agencies, as well as ward heads, village heads, and district heads, to enhance effective service delivery.
Alhaji Maje also emphasized the need for patience, discipline, and respect for citizens, calling on the officers to listen attentively to public complaints while remaining law-abiding at all times.
The Emir assured that the emirate council would cooperate fully with the Hisbah Command in the fight against indecency and social vices, urging the officers to conduct their operations in line with Islamic teachings.
He further encouraged the Hisbah leadership to collaborate with Islamic scholars and traditional rulers, noting that such partnerships would strengthen the effectiveness of their responsibilities.
In his response, the Commandant-General of the Jigawa State Hisbah Command, Dr. Faiz Muhammad Bashir, appealed to traditional rulers across the state to provide maximum support to enable the command to succeed in its mandate.
Dr. Bashir expressed concern over the worsening social situation, lamenting that some parents in Jigawa State send their children to Kano, Kaduna, and other neighbouring states for hard labour in order to generate income.
He assured that the Hisbah Command is now fully prepared to combat criminal activities and other forms of social vices across the 27 local government areas of Jigawa State.
The Commandant-General concluded by soliciting the continued cooperation and support of all emirate councils in the state to achieve lasting peace and moral discipline.
