The Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation has organised a lecture and capacity-building training programme for 100 selected youths in Jigawa State, held at the Manpower Development Institute (MDI), Dutse.

Declaring the programme open, the Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Aminu Usman Gumel, said the state government, through MDI, would collaborate with relevant agencies including the Industrial Training Fund (ITF), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and National Institute for Leather and Allied Technologies (NILEST) to partner with the Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation in ensuring the success of the initiative.

The Deputy Governor expressed appreciation, on behalf of the Jigawa State Government, to the Foundation for hosting the programme in Dutse, noting that the beneficiaries were drawn from various segments of the state.

According to him, the initiative is a critical intervention aimed at youth empowerment, employment generation, and self-reliance, adding that it aligns with the government’s human capital development agenda.

He explained that the training is designed to equip youths with relevant skills needed to adapt to socio-economic challenges and contribute positively to societal development.

Alhaji Gumel urged participants to remain dedicated throughout the training sessions and to actively engage with facilitators in order to gain maximum benefit from the programme.

In his welcome address and overview of the training, Associate Professor Engr. Buba Baba Shani stated that sustained investment in human capital development reflects the understanding that the true wealth of Jigawa State lies not only in its natural resources but in the capacity, character, and competence of its people.

He added that the training was specifically designed to address prevailing challenges such as economic pressures, evolving social expectations, leadership gaps, and the urgent need for employable and life-sustaining skills among youths.
